Steve Cox - President

I didn’t get into rowing until I was 36, that was in 1990 .  Me and my mate, Martin, joined Worcester Rowing Club.  We won our novices in coxed fours, and went on to win senior races in pairs, fours and eights.  I also achieved my instructors award in coaching in the early 90/s at WRC.

We managed to purchase our own pair (wooden) which we used to train in on Upton water.  I also purchased the coxless pair “Lindsey D” which we also trained in at Upton.

People were very interested in our rowing so we decided to start Upton Rowing Club.

I was Captain for the first 5 years and did a further 3 year a bit later on.   I also coached the juniors for a few years.

As President of the club I would like to see as many people as possible enjoy our water and the sport of rowing at Upton RC.
